How the world responds to a pariah state

Russia has been largely remoted from the worldwide stage following its brutal invasion of Ukraine. And but, the worldwide group continues to interact with different international locations accused of gross human rights abuses. That begs the query: what does it take to be labeled a pariah state, and who will get to resolve?

DAVOS, Switzerland — Because the world’s political and enterprise elite gathered on the World Financial Discussion board in Davos final week, there was one notable exception.

Russian public figures and enterprise delegates — as soon as a key presence on the Swiss mountain resort — have been banned from the discussion board this January, reflecting the nation’s broader ousting from the worldwide group following President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

But, elsewhere alongside the discussion board’s well-known promenade, as on the worldwide stage, different international locations accused of violating worldwide regulation have been effectively represented.
